The Curragh will continue to monitor rainfall and possibly watering ahead of Derby Weekend starting on Friday, with the ground currently described as good, good to firm in places.

The three-day festival begins on Friday evening with the €1,250,000 Dubai Duty Free-sponsored Derby featuring on the final day.

Regarding ground details, clerk of the course Brendan Sheridan reports “the ground is currently good, good to firm in places on both tracks following watering. We had 1mm of rain yesterday which almost didn't register yesterday on any of the gauges and the forecast is for mainly dry warm today. There is plenty sunshine and temperatures are to stay in the low 20s.

“Tomorrow is mainly dry, with the winds to pick up pretty strong tomorrow but there is a possibility of 1mm or 2mm of rain. Going forward, Friday looks a good day but that night there is a possibility of up to 5mm of rain.

“We will have further updates going forward and we will continue to monitor regarding watering. We are in a good place and are all good to go.”
