Ted's Roxboro Road wins Leopardstown's finale Ted Walsh was understandably delighted at the presence of the 0-109 rated Beginners' Chase at top jumps venue Leopardstown today as the Grand National winning trainer won the Leopardstown Membership sponsored race with J.P. McManus' well backed Roxboro Road (2/1 — 6/4f). Nine horses lined up for the race, confined to maiden chasers rated 109 or less over hurdles, and with rivals Three Kings and Mad Carew both falling, the way was left clear for Roxboro Road and jockey Mark Walsh to eventually hold on for a half length win over Kilbarry Calling. Walsh later reported “he is what he is, he's a 0-109 and if you could get enough of those 0-109s at Leopardstown and Navan he'd win a few of them. But when you get him down the country at Clonmel or Tramore he gets lost because he is a deliberate jumper and they go too quick for him. “What he really loves is Tramore-horses at Leopardstown! “It's grand to win.” The race was the final jumps race held at the Dublin venue this national hunt season.
