Gordon Elliott and Paul Carberry landed a double at Downpatrick when Tarkani ran out the comprehensive winner of the Willie Murphy Jewellers handicap hurdle by four-and-a-half lengths.
Elliot confirmed that he will campaign the gelding over hurdles and fences and said: "The owner Mick O'Shea is a close family friend and it is great to train a winner for him. Paul Carberry is riding out for me a couple of days a week and knows all my horses so well now."
Carberry pushed Tarkani into the lead at the last and although it briefly looked like runner-up and joint-favourite Mcswynes Bay would pose a challenge, the winner quickly asserted his advantage to score at 9/2.
