Surprise win for Greanta Jim Bolger was out of luck with New Approach at Ascot but Greanta appreciated the combination of easier ground and the step up to a mile to take the Kanturk Nursery Handicap for the Coolcullen maestro. The Intense Focus filly was dropped 3lb to a mark of just 54 following her handicap debut at Dundalk last week and was sent off an unconsidered 14/1 chance. However she was a different proposition with today’s conditions, and struck the front just over a furlong out. Rory Cleary kept her up to her work and she stayed on strongly to beat Crafty Codger (7/1) by a length and a half, with Keyword (6/1) in third.
