Sun On The Run looks like a horse with a good future after he impressed on his debut when landing the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden under Ronan Whelan at Cork.
Returned at 14/1, the Whipper colt, trained by Jim Bolger, slammed his stable-companion, the 6/5 favourite, Montferrat to the tune of three and three parts of a length.
Ger Flynn, representing Bolger, said: "The family seem to like it down here as his full-sister Sunset Beauty also won at the track.
"Ronan said that he handled the ground really well and did it very nicely.
"The second horse also ran a good race and they are two nice horses.
"Paddy (Bolger, winning owner) nearly always comes racing. He's not here today. It's a pity that he's missed it."
Sun On The Run is owned and was bred by Jim Bolger's brother Paddy. (AM & EM)
