Storm Mahler showed a good attitude at the business end to take the Way To Paris At Coolagown Stud Handicap Hurdle at Cork.

The five-year-old gelding, trained by Eric McNamara and ridden by his son Conor, was one of three horses in the air together at the last.

The 8/1 chance really knuckled down in the closing stages to get the better of the gambled-on Mighty Jeremy who was available at 11/1 overnight and backed down at all rates to go off the 7/4 favourite.

A neck separated the pair at the line with Leading The Way two and three quarter lengths adrift in third.

Eric McNamara said, “I'm delighted for Michael Hannon, from Clarina Co Limerick, who has had horses with us for a few years and it is great to build on his second placing the last day.

"He is a handy horse but is a gamey old devil. He probably doesn't want bottomless but they're getting through it as it is loose. He'll run through the summer as he'll go on nicer ground."
