After winning the second aboard Ocean Baroque talented apprentice Conor Stone-Walsh quickly doubled-up on Run Forrest Run in the Mallow Handicap.
The five-year-old son of Bobby's Kitten provided Micky Fenton with his first success in the training ranks at the Curragh in May and he performed with credit in four starts since.
Seventh but not beaten far behind Dragon Of Malta at Listowel last week, the bay victor was sent off a 4/1 joint-favourite this afternoon, carrying the colours of the Munster Racing Partnership.
Towards rear in the early stages, Stone-Walsh switched his mount left for room with over two-furlongs to race.
Soon making progress when pushed along, the now five-time winner was ridden to the front over a furlong out and stretched clear in the closing stages, coming home three-and-three-parts of a length to the good.
There was a neck between Teddy Boy (12/1) and Shoebox King (14/1) in second and third respectively, while Pretty Boy Floyd (14/1) completed the places another two-and-a-quarter lengths away in fourth.
Sharing favouritism with the winner, Rose Of Malta ran no sort of race and finished a disappointing thirteenth.
"The track probably didn't play to his strengths at Listowel the last day, but he loves today's ground and they went a good gallop. He was able to drop the bridle early and came home well," the winning rider commented.
"I had ridden him once in the past at the Curragh when things didn't work out, but he loves six-furlongs and that ground, so everything played to his strengths."
STEWARDS REPORTS
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Rose Of Malta, trained by P.F.O'Donnell, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident in the closing stages involving Es Vedra ridden by N.G. McCullagh, unplaced, and Bright Image ridden by D.W. O'Connor, unplaced, where it appeared both horses came close together. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
