De Glebe Star ran out an easy winner of the Parkway Shopping Centre Handicap Hurdle, scoring under Ger Fox for trainer Frances Slevin.

Second to Mount Masada at Fairyhouse on his last start, the eight-year-old son of Winged Love was sent off an 8/1 chance today (12's in the morning and from 10's on-course).

Sent straight to the front by Fox, the bay gelding was pushed along and stretched clear after the second last, keeping on well from there to score by twelve lengths. Fiddlers Bow was sent off the 11/4 favourite and he finished second under Jane Mangan for her father Jimmy. Commanche Vic was third at 25/1 under Shane Shortall for Leonard Whitmore, while Mick The Jiver (20/1) completed the placings a further half a length back in fourth under Brian Hayes for Eoghan O’Grady.

The winning trainer wasn’t available for comment after the race but her brother Nigel said: "He loves that loose ground and hates it tacky. We thought he had a right chance after his run the last day and God knows where we'll run next - he's a low grade handicapper."
