St Brelades Bay picked up his first victory of this campaign in the www.gowranpark.ie Handicap "for team Royal Ascot Colm O'Donoghue and Jessica Harrington".
The aforementioned pair savoured victory with Alpha Centauri who routed the opposition in the Group One Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot on Friday.
St Brelades Bay began to motor for O'Donoghue as they chased down Turbine a furlong and a half out.
The son of Camacho was ridden to lead coming to the final furlong and was always holding Turbine from there.
He passed the post with racecourse commentator Jerry Hannon calling him home "for team Royal Ascot Colm O'Donoghue and Jessica Harrington".
The winning margin was half a length and he prevailed at 5/1. Runner-up Turbine was all the rage from 9/2 down to 3/1 favourite. Top-weight Silverkode kept on for third at 7/1.
Jessica Harrington said: “I never really know when he’s going to do it and that’s the first time he’s won over seven furlongs.
“He’s in great order this year and it suited him the way the race was run. They went real hard up in front and once they come back he thinks it’s great. He got nearly a length up and then I wasn’t sure if he was going to get caught again.
“He loves top of the ground, and he didn’t really fancy it going around Sligo the other day. He would nearly turn around and talk to you. He’s also a lead horse and is very good at that.”
