Terence O'Brien's Speckled Meadow (3/1f) was strong over the seven-furlong trip in the Barna Recycling Handicap at Galway.

Adam Caffrey rode her to the front inside the final furlong and the pair soon set sail for home. Angel's Trumpet couldn't get back at the winner once headed and went down by a length and a quarter at 8/1. Fastman (14/1) and Wee Pablo (6/1) completed the placings in third and fourth respectively.

Owner Don Browne said: "That is brilliant. We thought the seven furlongs might be too short, but with the ground and hill, we thought the stamina might kick in and it worked out.

"We hoped to build up her stamina this year and it has worked out well and she could jump hurdles next year. The all-weather at Dundalk didn't suit her last year."

Speckled Meadow's other victory came over a mile in Thurles this month.
