So Scottish was undoubtedly impressive in easing away to land the featured rated novice chase over an extended two miles three furlongs in Tipperary.
The 5/4 favourite found himself in a pocket in third as Motown Maggie led from Railway Hurricane who kept him in third on the rail with over three furlongs to race.
Donagh Meyler knew he had plenty of horse under him and soon extricated him to go round those two rivals straightening for home.
So Scottish was absolutely tanking along at this stage and breezed into the lead two out. He began to crank up the pressure upon touching down and eased right way to the last.
A superb jump saw him home and he glided in by an emphatic seven lengths. Railway Hurricane plodded on for second at 4/1.
This was a lovely start over fences for the former point-to-point winner who won his maiden hurdle by nine lengths when last seen in Kilbeggan at the start of last month.
Trainer Emmet Mullins said: "Jumping has always been his forte, he is an exciting horse and that opens up more avenues for him. He is an intelligent horse and hopefully we will mix it between hurdles and fences for the rest of the season.
"He is a novice for both codes this season, acts on that ground and I'd say he is versatile; with the weather we've been having for the past few years I'd prefer if he handled that ground than heavy."
