Snowflakes lunges late for important win The well-bred Snowflakes swooped close home to open her account in the mile maiden at Cork. Aidan O'Brien's charge was sent off 9/4 favourite on better ground today having failed to make much impression in testing conditions on her return at Listowel last month. She was under pressure in third over a furlong from home but picked up nicely in the closing stages, under Seamus Heffernan, to pip Minnie Haha near the line and record a neck success. The Galileo filly is a full-sister to four-timer Group 1 winner Winter and to the juvenile Frosty, who made a winning debut at Dundalk last week. Heffernan said:- "We thought a lot of her but had an injury and got tired the last day at Listowel. “I was expecting her to get tired again today so I didn't want to get there and get passed again but I hit the line well. "She has a very good pedigree and was highly tried on her first two runs and then she went wrong. I won on her sister last week (Frosty) and she won impressively, so they have ability."
