Smith & Codd combine to take the bumper Jamie Codd won the bumper at Cork as 2/1 favourite Another Choice showed good reserves of stamina in the BetVictor (Pro/Am) Flat Race. The son of Hillstar, placed in his first two starts, tracked the leaders before being committed by Codd entering the final quarter of a mile. Lahinch Three and Patrick Mullins were in the slipstream and looking dangerous but the winner stayed on strongly to account for the former by three and three quarter lengths. Winning trainer Matt Smith, out of luck earlier when Lord Gillygooley was pipped at the post, said: "Jamie is delighted with him and he won nicely at the line. He was a little bit green when he joined the leader but he said once he got him out, he quickened well. "He has been on the go a while and will need a break at some stage but we'll see how he is after that and I'll have with Jamie and see what he thinks. "I'm delighted for Michael (Hannon, owner) as he had Maeve's Choice who got injured a few years ago and he bought this horse at the sales. He is a pleasure to train for and hopefully we'll have a bit of fun with this horse." Quotes from Thomas Weekes
