Slevin strikes with another big-priced winner Wexford amateur rider J J Slevin and his followers have been in clover in the last few days and after his 16/1 success on Ash Rowe at Wexford on Friday he followed up with a 14/1 win on Polar Present in the Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Mares INH Flat Race at Limerick. Unfortunately favourite Robyn Belle pulled up quickly two and a half furlongs out, whilst at the business end Polar Present got there in the last strides to defeat Inchiquin High by a short head. Brillare Momento ran a cracker on debut (hampered three and a half furlongs out) and ended up three parts of a length back in third. "I was hoping she'd run pretty good and while her form was solid, it looked a hotter race than the ones she has previously contested," said winning trainer Seamus Fahey. "She's a big mare and won't be a mare until next year - we'll have a chat in a few days and decide whether to go for a winners' bumper or go jumping." (TW & EM)
