Jockey J.J. Slevin completed a double at his local track Wexford today when steering his father Shay Slevin's bargain purchase In A Pinch to win the Loch Garman Handicap Hurdle (div 2).
Jockey Slevin had earlier steered the Gigginstown House Stud owned Cut Em Down to win the opener for his cousin trainer Joseph O'Brien and brought things even closer to home on his father's In A Pinch, which gained a maiden success when beating Ingleby Mackienzie by a length and three parts.
After trainer and father Slevin said: "she ran well last year when she was only four and has never let us down and always ran a good race. She is well-handicapped so hopefully she'll be able to get the job done again.
"I think the ground helped her - I'd said she needs that ground and she'll go for another handicap now. She is very small so I'd say she will stay over hurdles.
"Peter and Karen Sinnott own her, they bought her for E800 at the sales, so it was a nice bargain!"
