Slattery pair withdrawn after horsebox drama The Andy Slattery-trained pair Clonmore Lad and Charging Indian have both been withdrawn from this evening’s action at Cork after being slightly injured in a horsebox incident. The Killenaule trainer explained, “We had arrived at the track when one of the horses banged into the divide in the horsebox and knocked it over. “The two horses are okay, just some scratches and small cuts but the Turf Club vet Andrew Tyrrell felt we should err on the side of caution and not run.” Meanwhile Slattery is looking forward to running his stablestar An Saighdiur in the Rockingham Handicap at the Curragh on Sunday July 22. The five-year-old son of Acclamation scored three times on the all-weather at Dundalk earlier this year before enjoying his finest hour in the valuable Paddy Power Sprint at the Curragh just a fortnight ago. “He’s very sleepy at home but is in good nick and hopefully we get a good draw in the Rockingham. He’s a different horse this year, and we’re really looking forward to the Curragh,” said Slattery. He added, “I couldn’t understand it last year as he would beat Ucanchoose a long way at home and yet not show it on the track.”
