German betting company RaceBets.com is switching its focus from mainland Europe to Ireland and Britain.
The company founded in 2006 is the largest player in the German market and is 40% owned by the German Racing Authority, the equivalent of HRI in Ireland and the BHA in Britain.
With Cheltenham around the corner, Managing Partner Patrick Byrne has said they have ‘huge promotions planned to entice punters away from the established bookmakers’ and have guaranteed that during Cheltenham they will have ‘extremely competitive prices and some excellent promotions to keep customers very happy’. One of their major offers is refunding all losing Champion Hurdle ante-post bets if Hurricane Fly wins the race!
With a name like Patrick Byrne you would presume that he is Irish, but in fact Patrick is born and bred in Germany. His grandfather of the same name hails from New Ross in Co. Wexford.
Sebastian Weiss the co-founder of RaceBets.com has a number of Irish links having studied in The Dublin Business School. He is also an avid racing enthusiast and owned subsequent Cheltenham Festival scorer Sky's The Limit during his early career in France prior to joining Edward O'Grady.
The RaceBets slogan reads ‘The place for every race’, which is well supported as they have the largest international offering available on the Internet. They offer markets from five continents so if there is a race anywhere in the world, it’s a safe bet that they will have it on their site.
