Siskin's sister give Lyons Cork double Talacre gave Ger Lyons a quick double at Cork, and an across the card treble on the day, when asserting in fine style to land the three-runner median auction race. Rebel Step (5/4) took them along in the mile contest but was claimed going to the furlong pole by the Colin Keane ridden Talacre. The 11/10 favourite was soon in command and the Juddmonte-owned filly stretched away late on to post a two-and-a-quarter length win. Talacre dropped back to a mile today having finished last of four in a similar contest over three furlongs further at Killarney 11 days ago. Shane Lyons said afterwards:- "That was of the utmost importance as she is a half-sister to Siskin so it was great to get another bracket with her. "Ger was blaming himself for starting her off this year over an extended trip rather than starting her at the mile and working up but to be fair, we were all shouting about her wanting a trip. "She is coming back to herself and that ground and a good honest gallop suited her. "Hopefully that will give her confidence and the utmost important thing is to get black-type, that's what we'll be searching for. We'll run her at a strong mile and won't fix something that isn't broken." Lyons and Keane had also taken the previous race with Frenetic while the Sam Ewing-ridden Head Mistress has won the opener at Down Royal. (Quotes by Tom Weekes)
