Perseverance paid off with My Girl Sioux as she opened her account at the 34th attempt in the 47-65 handicap over the minimum trip at Dundalk.

The Andy Slattery-trained filly was dropped in last today by Cian Horgan and came with her challenge on the far side a furlong from home.

She got her head in front inside the final furlong and the 7/1 shot kept on strongly in the closing stages to post a length-and-a-half win over Babyface

Assistant Brian Slattery said afterwards:- “She deserved her turn. Maurice Aherne and Ronnie Cagney own her together and I'm delighted for them as they are after persevering a long time with her and she's owed them that.

“They went hard and in theory she came up the wrong side.”

When asked if she'd keep on the go he added:- “Oh yeah, she'll be here every week!”
