Sioux shows good Spirit under Lee Sioux Spirit made it third time lucky as she ran out a good winner of the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden. A promising fourth on debut at Cork last month, the Ken Condon trained bay since finished third of 19 at the Curragh, going down by just half-a-length and a head. Expected to make the breakthrough this afternoon, the Cinco Partnership owned victor was sent off the 6/4 favourite (touched 11/4 early) under Billy Lee. Settled behind the leaders on the outer, the she was ridden from the two furlong pole and shot to the front inside the final 200 yards, keeping on well from there to score by two-and-a-quarter lengths. .Pop Star (10/3) and Jer Batt (14/1), who were both behind the selection when they clashed at the Curragh, were second and third respectively, with half-a-length between them at the line. "She was very green and trailed the field on her first run at Mallow but got the hang of it late on and then stepped forward at the Curragh," Condon said. "Bill said she just took a moment to get going and is still a bit lairy or green. That's why we have a visor on her as she just needs a bit of help at the moment. "She's thoroughly genuine and the visor can come off in time. "She was strong going to the line and should get six. We might look for some black type with her now and there is plenty to look forward to." Additional reporting by Alan Magee
