Simply True relishes his spin around Killarney Another long journey south from Andy Oliver’s Co Tyrone stable paid off this weekend when Simply True made the best way home in Killarney. The three-year-old son of Camacho contested the extended mile and three Ring Of Kerry Handicap and tracked the pacesetting Dedillon. He improved to lead in the straight but still had a full three furlongs to see out. Ronan Whelan got into the drive position in the final furlong and he had a willing partner who toughed it out by a head from a closing Sharp Focus. Both the winner and the runner-up were returned at 11/1. They were a length and three quarters in front of the third home, Advanced Virgo (5/1). Ronan Whelan said: “He’s a great old servant to Andy. Once he gets that soft ground he always runs to his level. “The way he likes to be ridden and the track suited. Andy likes to keep it uncomplicated on him. “He’s a good, genuine horse. He’s had to run all the way to the line, there’s quite a strong headwind there now. He was good and honest all the way.” Simply True sported cheekpieces for the first time today. Oliver also had a winner in Tipperary yesterday with Make A Promise.
