Silverkode lunged late to make a winning handicap debut in the RTE Radio One Handicap at the Curragh.
Gary Carroll held the 6/1 shot up in mid-division before asking him to make ground up passing the two furlong pole.
Joe Murphy 's charge found top gear inside the final furlong and hit the line well to grab victory in the shadow of the post.
He claimed a neck success over Severus with just a head further back to Plough Boy
The winner had won a maiden over five furlongs on his last visit to the course last month and was having only his third start today.
“It was a very professional performance from a novice in a handicap and I'm delighted with him,” said Murphy.
“The statistics for maiden winners coming into handicaps are eight percent so we came here with that in the back of our minds.
“We've always loved the horse. He got a mark of 84 after the last day so we had no option but to go for a handicap.
“It was a nice handicap and I wanted to come back to the Curragh where he had won before. It was a learning mission as well but we were very happy to run.
“To be honest on his first run in a handicap I thought he might be a bit novicey but anyway he got up. In comparison to the run of six seconds we had, it's good to be on the other side.”
