Shakervilz ran out a game winner on his debut over fences at Leopardstown today.
Paul Townend sent his mount to the front two from home in the beginners chase but he had to work hard to land the spoils.
Long-time leader Sorceror proved a persistent challenger, eventually going down by three-parts of a length.
"He looks a natural recruit to the game. I was worried the trip might be too short for him but he jumped so well I thought I'd let him take his chance," said trainer Willie Mullins.
"We can up him in trip when we want. I'll find something for him in a few weeks time - a nice novice. We'll see what he does next time before making any plans."
It was later reported that the saddle had slipped on Sorceror on the run-in.
