Second win in six days for talented Pale Iris Pale Iris (3/1) gained her second win of the week when coming home strongly from off the pace in the valuable Irish Racing Writers Handicap. The daughter of Dragon Pulse had scored at the Curragh on Monday and the runner-up on that occasion, Montego Bay, gave the form a boost half an hour earlier when breaking her maiden. Gary Carroll tracked the leaders towards the stands’ side before switching inside towards the middle of the track over a furlong out. His mount kept on well to overhaul the 11/4 favourite Notoriously Risky in the closing stages and win by three quarters of a length. Winning trainer Joe Murphy said: "Gary said she quickened twice and got him out of trouble. We’ll make an entry for her in the Jersey Stakes. “She took the race really well at the Curragh and was squealing at home the day after. The form worked out as well with the other horse (Montego Bay) winning. “I was impressed with her today. She’s class and is as good as I’ve ever had. It takes a good horse to quicken twice over six at Naas.” Quotes from Alan Magee
