Russell played a typically good waiting game, producing the son of Wizard King to lead at the final flight before staying on to defeat the fast finishing Oxalido
Russell subsequently said “after the last day (finished third at Kilbeggan) I felt I could improve him a little bit. He couldn’t lie up around Kilbeggan but today it was a little easier for him. They went a stronger gallop, he flattened out well and stayed well.”
