Sandy scores on her debut for the Mangans The father and daughter team of Jimmy and Jane Mangan combined to take division one of Greenmount Conference Centre Mares Flat Race with newcomer Sandy Jane. The daughter of Craigsteel was sent off at 10/1 and she was waited with towards the rear before improving six furlongs out. Carrig Rua Lady (10/3) attempted to make all under Mark Fahey for his uncle Peter, but she couldn't fend off the challenge of Sandy Jane and she was headed in the final furlong, as the winner went on to score comfortably by two and a quarter lengths. Snatch Back was seven and a half lengths back in third at 8/1 for trainer Pat Doyle while the Willie Mullins newcomer, Iamtoldiamgrand, who went off the 11/4 favourite, finished a disappointing seventh under Katie Walsh. Jimmy Mangan said afterwards: "She had been working well at home and that was her first time on grass. "The two and a half miles probably suited her and the plan is to run her in a long distance mares hurdle now." Additional reporting by Thomas Weekes
