Tommy Carberry’s widow Pamela is of course Arthur Moore’s sister, and the race run in memory of the late great jockey and trainer had an appropriate winner in the shape of well-backed favourite Carrig Sam Moore has care of this fellow for the Over The Sticks Syndicate.

The point-to-point victor is now two from two on the racecourse proper, both coming over Fairyhouse’s two and a half mile trip, and the 3/1 shot got it done nicely from the front.

Try as they might his rivals couldn’t get to him, and Donagh Meyler’s mount eventually beat Ten Ten and Homme D’un Soir by a length and a half and a head in this Tommy Carberry Handicap Hurdle.

"He was well bought out of the point-to-point fields. He has a beautiful temperament, you can see that in the way he lobbed along in front there. Even in the stables nothing fazes him,” said Moore.

"He is obviously going to be a real lovely chaser. We'll give him one more run at Punchestown or Fairyhouse and then let him off. He might come back here for the 2m6f at Easter.

"I thought it was a big ask today, first run in a handicap. They gave him a very soft lead and made it easy for him but he was very slick. He's got a nice future."
