Shane Foley recorded a double when producing Saint By Day with a strong run inside the final furlong to land the concluding 1m2f handicap at Dundalk.
The Michael Halford-trained gelding burst through inside the last 100 yards to score by three-parts-of-a-length from the fast finishing Suprise Vendor
"He gave him a very good ride," said Halford afterwards.
"He deserves it as he missed three weeks of the season with suspension which lost him second place in the apprentice title. That puts him back into second.
"He gave him a very patient ride as we weren't confident about him staying. But he was very cool and did well to find a way through."
Foley had earlier scored aboard Captain Cole in the apprentice race.
