Sailors Warn (5s this morning into 3s) got off the mark in style in the Liam & Rita Lipsett Memorial Maiden with Billy Lee 's mount coming home in front by four and a half lengths.
This Redback gelding led three furlongs out and the outcome was soon beyond doubt as the eleven times previously-tried three-year-old went away to win comprehensively. Sailors Warn was three times runner-up to the prolific winner La Chassotte in the months of May and June.
Tim Doyle, who trains Sailors Warn for his wife, Claire, who also bred this consistent type, said: "He deserved that and the softer ground is the secret to him. He is entered in the Curragh on Sunday in an apprentice race over a mile and two and he could go there.
"There is plenty of nice handicaps for him before the end of the season and he'll go hurdling over the winter."
