S'All Good Man finally delivered on his undoubted potential when shedding his maiden status at the 17th time of asking in the William Hill Play Responsibly Apprentice Handicap at Dundalk.

Slowly away from stalls, jockey Cian MacRedmond soon had the Bill Farrell trained six-year-old up with the pace, travelling easily just behind the leaders.

Turning into the straight, the eventual winner sat a close fourth in a small group that had broken away from the main field. MacRedmond was going ominously well at this stage of proceeding and once he switched his mount to the centre of the track, he quickened up nicely to stride clear. Extensio stayed on strongly to grab second close home, with Adamaris back in third place.

“I'm delighted that he won, we were threatening to retire him but he's a grand horse and he's had bits of issues,” said Bill Farrell.

“He's been unlucky really. He got a beautiful ride, we were worried about the draw but as it panned out he missed the kick and he was able to work him into it.

“We'll see what the handicapper does to him and he might come back up here as likes the surface.

“He's a really nice genuine horse. He's a half-brother to a horse I won a Group 3 with (Xenobia) and they are chalk and cheese.”
