Ronava got off the mark over fences at the second time of asking when running out a good winner of the beginners chase at Kilbeggan.

Jonathan Burke soon disputed on the Blueprint gelding and he proved too strong for 15/8 favourite Akorakor in the closing stages.

Richard Cotter 's charge stayed on the well in the closing stages to record a three-length victory at odds of 3/1.

The winner had been third on his chase debut at Cork last month. He had won handicap hurdles at Galway and Wexford last year.

"He did it well. We've always said he was a two-mile horse but the extra half mile made a difference today and it opens up a lot more options," said Cotter.

"From day one when Johnny won on him and then Adrian (Heskin) they said stick a fence in front of him. He jumped like a stag.

"He likes quicker ground as long as it's safe with a little cut. He's won at Galway before so we'll look for a little handicap there."
