Roedora makes winning start for O'Briens Roedora kept on strongly in the closing stages to make a winning debut for Joseph O'Brien in the concluding bumper at Down Royal. The Getaway filly, owned by the trainer's sister Sarah and bred by their mother Anne Marie, is a half-sister to a decent sort in San Salvador and went to post 5/2 favourite on her racecourse bow. Tom Hamilton produced his mount to challenge crossing the road and she hit the front a furlong-and-a-half from home. Roedora galloped on strongly in the closing stages to post a length-and-three-quarters win over Vico Rock. Hamilton said: "I got a great run around. She is still plenty green and there's lots of improvement in her. It is a great start. "She was only just getting going at the line as well, she won plenty snug. "Sarah has a brother going to the sales, so it is a good update for him." (Quotes by Michael Graham)
