The Jim Gorman-trained Wrekin Rock lunged late to land the spoils in the ten furlong handicap at Dundalk.
Long Journey Home looked set to score when claiming front-runner Shukhov over a furlong-and-a-half out.
Ian Brennan produced Wrekin Rock with a run inside the final furlong, however, and he got to the front close home for a neck success. Prince Of Fire was sent off 7/2 favourite on his return from a break but faded turning for home after chasing the leaders.
The winner had chased home a progressive looking sort in El Salvador over a mile-and-a-half here last month.
It was a poignant winner with owner Penny Foley having passed away only last month: “She left a big void. This was Penny's favourite horse,” revealed Gorman.
“She used to call him Rodney after the character out of 'Only Fools And Horses' as he was a bit of an idiot early on.
“He's a great looking horse but has had all sorts of issues and I think hurdling helped to calm him down.
“He might go for another Flat race and we'll find something for him in Punchestown.”
