Riyami (4/1) registered his third winter win over Dundalk's two-miles distance today, landing the Dundalk Winter Series Leading Trainer & Jockey Championship Handicap for trainer Denis Hogan and jockey Joey Sheridan.
Previously placed fifth in a 23-runner Leopardstown handicap hurdle on St Stephen's Day, the five-year-old was today following up November and December course-and-distance wins, when beating Rockview Consort by a half-length.
Afterwards jockey Sheridan said “he loves two miles and needs it, and also needs that surface. This surface up here and good ground are the keys to him.
"When you ride him like that and just let him get into it, he loves it.
"He has been a dude for me - I was fifth over hurdles on him (at Leopardstown) as well when he looked after me.
"Patrick O'Brien and Ben Carthy and the Rogers' are newly involved in him and they picked the right horse. He'll be a very fun horse because he is also a brilliant jumper.”
