Reverend Hubert brought up a Downpatrick double for Charles and Philip Byrnes with an easy success in the extended 2m5f maiden.

The 8/15 favourite was always prominent and picked off Ringdufferin after four out. He began to move clear at the penultimate flight and stretched away on the run-in to score by eight and a-half lengths.

Ringdufferin kept on one paced for second at 9/2 with Marv Michael a length and a-quarter away in third at 9/4.

Trainer Byrnes said: "He loves jumping, jumping is the secret to him.

"He's a horse that doesn't do a stroke at home. The hurdles just set him alight, he absolutely loves it. Good ground, he wouldn't be one for the winter.

"Two and a-half plus and he will stay three miles.

"I'd say that's why Richard Hannon sold him in the first place, he was gone a bit sick of the Flat. Next year, definitely (go on the Flat), but this year I'd like to keep him going over hurdles as he is enjoying it so much.

"We might have a look at something in England, the October meeting in Cheltenham could be a possibility. We like to travel with the horses.

"A good day."

The duo also teamed up with Dubeyeracingcraic in the opener.
