Rebel gifted race as Tough luck for Talkin There was drama at the final fence in the two-mile beginners chase at Down Royal with Talkin' Tough crashing out and gifting Rookery Rebel the race. Mick Darcy looked set for a cosy victory on Talkin' Tough only to get the last all wrong and hit the deck. Rookery Rebel was on hand to make the most of his chance, under Davy Condon, and went on for a four-length victory. It was a change of luck for the winner, who crashed out in the same race last year's when looking set for victory. "He deserves his bit of luck today," said winning trainer Cormac Farrell. "He ran in this last year and fell two out when looking the winner. It was his turn today. "He's entered on Sunday at Cork and we'll see about that." Winning owner Tommy McAloon hails from Trillick in Co. Tyrone and Farrell said that he tries to run his charge at his local track when possible.
