Quarton makes up for Friday's near miss Paul Carberry eased Quarton through on the inside coming to the last hurdle and the pair went right away to score by five lengths in Bellewstown. Roman General had come through to lead approaching the second last, but took a fall at that flight. Carberry had Quarton just in behind the pace and steered his charge to the inside and from there the result was never in doubt. Gordon Elliott’s winner was returned the 7/4 favourite, from 11/4 before racing. He had finished second at Bellewstown on Friday night, beaten three parts of a length in a two mile one handicap hurdle. Today’s assignment came over two and a half miles. Gordon Elliott said: “I thought he might win both days, but he was a bit unlucky on Friday night where things didn’t go to plan. He jumps fences as well so he’ll be okay as he has plenty of options.” Long House Hall and Coldstonesober, both at 14/1, finished second and third respectively. Additional reporting by Alan Magee
