Punchestown heavy but raceable

Punchestown are confident that racing will go ahead on Wednesday despite the heavy rain lashing the course at present.

The ground is now heavy at the Kildare track after downpours yesterday and continuous rain today.

Racing Manager Richie Galway said today that the course is currently raceable and no problems are anticipated with better weather forecast for the next couple of days.

"It's heavy at the moment but raceable. We had 28mm of rain yesterday and another 6mm so far today," said Galway.

"Obviously there is substantial rain today but tomorrow and Wednesday are forecast dry and we don't envisage any problems as long as the forecast is correct.

"We have no lying water at the moment and we have 24 hours to deal with any water that falls and to deal with any problem areas."
