Primary school teacher rides chase winner at Punchestown Primary school teacher and amateur jockey Emma Sweeney registered her first winner at Punchestown today as the 22 year old steered her mother Una's Allduckornodinner to a thrilling win in the Ladbrokes Ingoldsby (QR) Handicap Chase. Having her first ever ride over chase fences, Sweeney made most of the running on the nine year old gelding who battled gamely for the Dunshaughlin based teacher, as the pair recorded a three lengths success over Robin De Roost. Sweeney had previously ridden without success in six point-to-points and had also ridden Allduckornodinner in bumpers and hurdles but today notched a memorable first win. Afterwards trainer and Champion Hurdle winner Gavin Cromwell reported “he’s been running consistent, jumps brilliant and it’s a great family occasion. He’s ground dependent and that’s four he’s won and been placed a few times. “Emma rides out for me a few days a week and it’s their own horse. Her mum Una is the owner and breeder. She was telling me earlier that she bought the dam for 800 quid.” Quotes from Alan Magee
