Very strong in the market all day, Positive Thinker landed odds of 10/11 with a hard-fought success in the Hospitality At Gowran Park Handicap Chase.

Ridden in second two out as strong-travelling Railway Hurricane came through to lead, Sean O'Keeffe's mount looked vulnerable as the pair drew on from their other rivals. The six-year-old, a second winner on the card for Ocavango, found plenty off the bridle, though, and led after the last to account for Railway Hurricane by two and a half lengths.

Owned and trained by Michael McDonagh, the winner had been successful at Tipperary in April.

O'Keeffe said:- “He was very tough. It was only his second run over fences and he was good and brave down over the last three. I needed him every time and he came there and battled on well.

“It's taking plenty of getting but at least the chase track there is all nice and fresh and they are able to get through it. He didn't mind the softer ground.

“He had a nice comeback run. All the team with Michael have done a good job with him, to win two handicaps in two runs over fences is a good training job.”
