Ponmeoath proves best of the oldies The veterans put on a good show in the handicap chase at Cork as Ponmeoath surged through at the final fence to land the spoils. Dev, returning from a 484-day absence, made a bold bid from the front but couldn't hold the late run of Ponmeoath and Barry Geraghty. Eric McNamara's 11-year-old kept on well in the closing stages to post a two-length victory over the front-runner in a race restricted to runners over ten-years-old. "It's lovely to win a race with him again. Barry gave him an unbelievable ride - I thought he was great on him," said McNamara. "He's been a great servant to us and it's great to win here and get a good pot." McNamara is in favour of more races catering for the older horses:- "He's probably outclassed by some younger horses now and that type of race is perfect for him. "He's been to Listowel for the past seven years and all things being well he'll go there again this year."
