Pierlow passes his rival at the post Pierlow put his head on the line at the finish to nail Invincible Don as he took the spoils in the two and a half mile beginners' chase at Tipperary. Pierlow and Invincible Don looked to have the race between them from the third last as they raced in unison round the bend and opened up a gap of a few lengths to Port Rock. Invincible Don hugged the rail and jumped the second last half a length up on Pierlow. Port Rock tried to close on the pair but made a slight mistake at that fence. Invincible Don increased his lead slightly as he negotiated the last and on the run-in looked ready to collect. However, Andrew Lynch got a sweet tune out of Pierlow and he got his charge up on the line to win by a nose at 9/2. This foiled a gamble on Invincible Don who was retunred 8/1 from 16/1 in the morning and 12/1 on opening show. Port Rock unseated at the last so Drive The Bus came in third at 16/1. He was six and a half lengths behind the battle for first place. Winning trainer Henry de Bromhead said: "Andrew gave him a super ride and we were lucky things fell our way. I was surprised as I thought it might be a dead-heat. He's a tough horse at this level. "The Social Network Syndicate is one of my Facebook syndicates and they're great supporters of mine and I'm delighted for them." This gave de Bromhead and Lynch a double on the card as they took the preceding race with Tisamystery. Additional reporting by Thomas Weekes
