Petticoat (William Buick) beating Most Gifted© Photo Healy Racing
Petticoat has Michael Halford dreaming of better things to come after taking the Dubai Duty Free Full Of Surprises Summer Fillies Handicap in great style at the Curragh.
The Godolphin home-bred daughter of Cape Cross was prominent throughout, and asserted from the two furlong pole under William Buick.
The 7/2 joint favourite kept on well inside the final furlong to beat Most Gifted by two and a half lengths, with Dianthus over three lengths further away in third.
Halford said, “She’s a big scopey filly with a wonderful attitude. She had a lovely first run back here on Guineas weekend and we had this race in mind for a while.
“We’ll try and get some black type with her now, and she’ll probably go to Killarney (Cairn Rouge Stakes on July 15) now. She’s very straight forward, loves that ground and hopefully she will go on to better things.
“William gave her a lovely ride and just built it up gradually so all went to plan.”
