Henry De Bromhead got off to the perfect start for new owners Gigginstown House Stud as Bishops Road eased to victory in the bumper, the Killarney Racegoers Club Ladies Riders Flat Race.
The five-year-old son of Heron Island pulled up on his debut in a point-to-point at Belharbour in February before he made amends on his next start, easing to an impressive twelve length success at Lismore.
Both of those point-to-point runs were for Mark Molloy and making his debut for his new connections this evening, he was sent off the 11/10 favourite (opened on-course at 7/4).
Jane Mangan moved the bay gelding into the lead entering the straight and he was jostled along in the final furlong to beat the Mick Winters trained Jansboy (40/1) by a comfortable two and three parts of a length. Dream Beat (20/1) finished a further two and a quarter lengths back in third for John Joe Walsh while the 4/1 second favourite, Bishopslough could only manage seventh for Katie Walsh and Tony Mullins.
Henry De Bromhead said afterwards: "He won a point-to-point for Mark Molloy and he suggested him to Michael and Eddie (O'Leary). I was very lucky he was sent to me.
"He is my first horse for Gigginstown and that was Jane's first winner for me. She rode one for me before.
"I’ll speak to the owners now but I’d imagine he’ll be heading straight to a field. He is one to look forward to for the autumn."
