One would doubt that there have ever been 100/1 winners of successive races in Ireland but, after Red Letter Bray 15 minutes earlier at the Curragh, Pepperpots went in at the same price when making all in the Dennison Rentals Point-To-Point Flat Race at Downpatrick.

The daughter of Policy Maker had, unsurprisingly, little to recommend her after seven starts in point-to-points and a well-beaten seventh on Rules debut at Tipperary.

She belied her odds though and was clear starting the final climb before doing enough to fend off Mrs Mc Go by two and a-quarter lengths.

Rider Barry John Walsh, who trains the mare himself for his father John, said: "She works real well at home.

"We ran her in a few point-to-points and she just wasn't getting the three miles.

"We said we would try the bumper route on a bit of better ground. We ran her in Tipperary in a mares' point-to-point bumper and she finished seventh. I'd say she needed the run from a point-to-point field to a bumper.

"Here, let her on and let her fill herself everywhere downhill and just hope for the best.

"I'd hope there would be more in her."
