Pepper completes good day for Cromwell Pepper Noir made it two-from-two over a mile-and-a-half at Dundalk when running out a commanding winner of the finale tonight. The Gavin Cromwell-trained filly had won at her first start over the trip 16 days ago and went to post 7/4 favourite to follow up. Gary Carroll's mount was in front early before settling second behind Ice Opera. The Outstrip filly hit the front passing the two pole and was in control in the closing stages as she posted a length-and-three-quarter win over the staying on Picpoul. Carroll said: "She is (in rude health at the minute). "I felt like we went very steady and I was happy enough to sit second. Pressed on early enough up the straight because I knew she would get the trip. "She is very game and she is maybe getting up to her limit. "She loves that surface and tries very hard, so there is every chance she might just step forward again." It completed a good day for Cromwell, who also had winners at Cheltenham with Stumptown, and at Cork with Robbies Rock. (Quotes by Michael Graham)
