Doolin Dancer showed improvement on his second start to land the opening Foran Equine Irish EBF Auction Maiden in Killarney.

Chris Hayes sent him in pursuit of Let Me Pass in the final quarter of a mile and the pair got the measure of that rival at the furlong pole.

The runner-up fought back on the inner but Doolin Dancer came home best by three parts of a length at a well-backed 11/4.

Let Me Pass was the 15/8 favourite and he was four and a quarter lengths clear of Sea Sessions (10/1).

"He is a lovely horse and I haven't ridden much for Mr Oxx in the past, just five or six rides, and that is my first winner," Chris Hayes said.

"I spoke to Mr Oxx on the phone and he was very confident. He said not to make it an end to end gallop. He was idle when he hit the front.

"I believe the Foran Final is his target next."

Fast Company colt Doolin Dancer finished sixth on his first start in Cork.
