Overturn will have to defy a stone rise in the ratings to a mark of 159 if the dual-purpose gelding is to repeat last year's emphatic victory in the Guinness Galway Handicap Hurdle, the richest jump race in Ireland which will be run this year on July 28.
The Donald McCain-trained front runner has been allotted top-weight of 11.10 for the €260,000 Galway Festival feature for which there are 41 entries including last year's second and third, Bahrain Storm (11-5) and Dirar (10-1).
The Pat Flynn-trained Bahrain Storm is also among the 59 entries for the Tote Ireland-sponsored €200,000 Galway Plate in which he is set to carry 9.10.
“Plate” top-weight Captain Cee Bee (11-10) is conversely also an entry for the “Hurdle” in which Eddie Harty's charge has been given just 10-11.
There are currently 27 Plate entries in the handicap proper including last year's winner Finger Onthe Pulse (10-8), while other interesting contenders are the Dermot Weld-trained Majestic Concorde (11-0) – winner of the Paddy Power Handicap Chase at Leopardstown last Christmas and a close third in the Plate 12 months ago.
Finger Onthe Pulse's owner J P McManus again has a formidable team to choose from with the likes of Dancing Tornado (10-7), Head Of The Posse (10-3) and Nicky Henderson's Aigle D'Or (9-11) also among the entries.
