Persistence paid off for Holly Tree over fences at Roscommon on Tuesday night but for the connections of Oulart the wait went on even longer, but on attempt number twenty one over the larger obstacles, Dessie Hughes' charge did the business in the www.hacketts.ie Handicap Chase.
The former Irish Grand National runner-up showed great reserves of stamina under Roger Loughran to beat Professor Muldoon by four lengths. Hughes said, "He is a good horse but has had his problems over the last two years and that should give him some heart. We thought when we were entering him in the race named after Kieran Kelly, but it has worked out well. The Kerry National is a possibility." (EM)
