One-two for Murtagh as Knight scores Johnny Murtagh saddled a one-two in the Irish Injured Jockeys Handicap at Gowran as Knightlaila got home from stablemate Eighty Eight. The winner was making his first outing for Murtagh having been placed in two Dundalk maidens earlier in the year. Ben Coen drove his mount to the front over a furlong from home in the mile contest as long time leader Eastern Wind hung left across the track. The 2/1 favourite (3/1 this morning) stuck on well in the closing stages to record a length victory over 22/1 shot Eighty Eight. Murtagh said:- “OTI (Racing) have been good supporters of ours and they seem to have bought another nice horse. “Ben said he was very green when he hit the front and pricked his ears but he stayed on nicely. “I thought he was a horse that would probably stay a mile and a half, and he might, but he showed enough speed around there today. “I don’t have him that long and he’s sure to improve. He’s a big backward horse and should improve with racing.” (Quotes by Alan Magee)
